I disapprove of the 996 work ethic at Chinese tech companies. Though it seems to have been productive, I strongly believe Chinese companies suffer higher rates of unwanted turnover and crippled morale in the longer term. Employees simply burn out and quit their jobs. I think most people prefer a good work-life balance. In addition to this, China’s developing economy and rising standards of living guarantees that more and more millennials are no longer willing to put in the long hours for a meager paycheck. As the only child, most receive a lot of support from their families, including a financial safety net, should their careers not go as planned. So, I just don’t think it will work in the long run.

我完全不同意中國科技公司996的職業倫理。盡管這樣看起來很高效,但長期來看,這些公司將會出現不良的人員流動,而且挫傷士氣。員工們會過勞,然后辭職。我認為大多數人還是更喜歡保持工作與生活的平衡。另外,中國飛速增長的經濟和更高品質的生活決定了新世紀的寶寶們將不再愿意為了微薄的工資付出長時間勞動。作為獨生子女,大部分人都從家中得到了很多支持,這就包括即使職業不順,也有財務安全的支撐。因此,我不認為996這樣的工作模式能夠長久。
